UX Designer as Ringmaster
Reading a bit on the usability craze earlier today this popped into my head. While fundamental, I think stopping at simply being “usable” is really disappointing.
Being a UX Designer is a lot like being a Circus Ringmaster. Putting all the focus on usability is a lot like walking into the Big Top, tickets in hand, and the Ringmaster yells out through their bullhorn, “Ladies and Gentlemen, come right in! Our chairs don’t fall apart and we’ve managed to get the lights on!”, When what you really want is to see some Tigers and a magic show.
